Paralleling the Taconic State Parkway from the Westchester-Putnam county line to Stony Street, the Yorktown Trailway utilizes a former equestrian trail and a sewer right-of-way. Map from Walkable Westchester V3.
Park Description:
During public hearings concerning the Taconic Parkway construction to widen the parkway,comments were made about having a pedestrian bridge to connect the sides of the parkway. In return for the town’s approval of the changes to the parkway, an agreement was made to build the bridge. The bridge was completed in 2007 and officially& is the Yorktown Trailway Taconic Parkway Overpass. However, it is referred to locally as "that bridge." Since 2010 it has become a destination and& connects& Woodlands Legacy Fields Parks with the Yorktown Trailway and Granite Knolls Park.
Trails Overview:
Never far from the parkway, the Yorktown Trailway connects Granite Knolls Park and Woodlands Legacy Fields Park as well as being accessible from adjacent neighborhoods.
The Yorktown Trailway is along a former equestrian trail that was built as part of the Taconic State Parkway in 1927. The Bridle Trail, as it was then known, connected what is now Mohansic Golf Course with Fahnestock State Park. Over the years, various road improvements in the area destroyed the Bridle Trail and the Yorktown Trailway has restored much of that route in Westchester.

From the Taconic State Parkway northbound, take the Route 132 exit and turn left. Take the second left turn after the southbound entrance ramp and head south on Buckhorn Street. Parking is at the end of the street. Follow the path into the woods and onto the Trailway.
From the Taconic State Parkway south bound, take the Route 6 exit and turn right, immediately crossing two lanes of traffic to make a left at the traffic light on to Route 132. Where Route 132 turns left, turn right and then make left onto Buckhorn Street. Parking is at the end of the street. Follow the path into the woods and onto the Trailway.
