Groups ask voters to back N.J. open-space ballot question
Body
For the price of one movie ticket a year, important parks, waterways, and other open spaces throughout the state could be preserved for future generations, environmental and conservation groups said Thursday.
The groups made their point at John F. Kennedy Park as registered voters throughout the state prepare to decide the fate of Ballot Question 1 on Nov. 3. If the bond is passed, $400 million in state funds would go toward acquiring land throughout the state for conservation and recreation purposes. It would raise a New Jersey homeowner's taxes by about $10 per year, according to figures from the Keep It Green Coalition in New Jersey.
