Three conservation groups have teamed up to buy a 435-acre chunk of forestland in Deerpark and Greenville they hope will eventually be part of a 50-mile land corridor to be used by wildlife, migrating birds of prey and nature lovers.
The Open Space Institute, partnered with the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference and the Orange County Land Trust, snagged the Ridgeview property, on the southern Shawangunk Ridge north of Interstate 84, for $1.7 million in mid-July.
